Integrated methodology for transmission and reactive power planning

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1996
This paper presents the comprehensive methodology for solving the transmission reinforcement and reactive power planning problems. The static approach is applied to both problems and they are separated into corresponding investment and operation subproblems.

Discussion and Researching on Dynamic Reactive Power Planning

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
With the power system operation constantly approaches limit, dynamic voltage stability problem has become the focus of attention. While reasonable reactive power planning plays an important role in keeping system's dynamic stability. However, the key of dynamic reactive power planning (DRPP) is make an optimal scheme of reactive power sources ...

Contingency-constrained reactive power planning and scheduling

1988., IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003
The authors describe a software package that has been created to solve the contingency-constrained reactive power flow problem. A methodology is presented which aims to provide an effective tool for the planning and scheduling of reactive power under a set of defined contingencies.

Reactive power planning incorporating system security

Proceedings of 8th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference on Industrial Applications in Power Systems, Computer Science and Telecommunications (MELECON 96), 2002
The purpose of reactive power planning is to provide an acceptable voltage profile and to maintain generators' reactive limits. A method is developed using a security performance index and an optimization technique. The proposed combined technique finds an optimal solution for a practical size power system by reducing the set of equations to be solved.

Reactive Power Planning for transmission loss minimization

2011 5th International Power Engineering and Optimization Conference, 2011
Total system losses of the power system relate to the reactive power management in the network. This paper presents a method to minimize the system losses by utilizing Reactive Power Planning (RPP) approach. In this technique, the control variables of RPP were formulated as an optimization problem and Multiagent Immune Evolutionary Programming (MAIEP ...

Capability chart for the planning of reactive power sources

Proceedings of 8th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference on Industrial Applications in Power Systems, Computer Science and Telecommunications (MELECON 96), 2002
The planning for reactive power sources can be set in the same logical framework as the planning for other components of the system by describing the ability of the system to face the load demand by means of the capability chart of the system. A reliability index is defined based on the capability chart, thus giving evidence to the role played by ...

Stochastic optimization for reactive power planning problems

2016 IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCON), 2016
In this paper, a stochastic optimal power flow is developed to solve the reactive power planning (RPP) problem while dealing with uncertainties such as intermittent power generation and loads. The RPP problem is formulated as a mixed integer non-linear problem (MINLP) which is a hard problem to solve.

A Study of Flexible Reactive Power Planning Based on Multi-scenario and Reactive Power Division Technique

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
Reactive power planning (RPP) involves numerous factors of uncertainty. In this paper, the cost of investment of reactive equipment is selected as objective function, which is based on the system security. And a method of multi-scenario processing is presented. Based on the balance of reactive power division, the model pursues the best scheme under the
