Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The Way Poets Read Now

open access: yesHumanities
The way literature scholars read now has been under scrutiny for over a decade. The same long decade has seen an explosion in experimental literatures that make reading in the literary-critical sense a matter for poets: a poet’s hybrid, whose disturbance

“Sooner or later most of us get hooked”: the question of insanity in Patricia Highsmith’s 'Strangers on a train' and 'The talented Mr. Ripley' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This article considers constructions of insanity in 'Strangers on a Train' and 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' in the context of historical understandings of psychopathy and sociopathic personality disturbance.

Quantum nondemolition measurement of an electron spin qubit

open access: yes, 2019
Measurement of quantum systems inevitably involves disturbance in various forms. Within the limits imposed by quantum mechanics, however, one can design an "ideal" projective measurement that does not introduce a back action on the measured observable ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Better educational signage could reduce disturbance of resting dolphins.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Spinner dolphins on Hawai'i Island's west coast (Stenella longirostris longirostris) rest by day in protected bays that are increasingly popular for recreation. Because more frequent interactions of people with these dolphins is likely to reduce rest for

Analisa Koordinasi Proteksi Over Current Relay Pada Gardu Induk Wonosari 150KV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Over current in the transmission system causes the breaking of electricity to the load, causing losses in the transmission network as well as on the customer's electrical energy.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A 28-nm 32Kb SRAM For Low-VMIN Applications Using Write and Read Assist Techniques [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
In this paper new write and read assist techniques, reduced coupling signal negative bitline (RCS-NBL) and low power disturbance noise reduction (LP-DNR) of 6T static random-access memory (SRAM) to improve its minimal supply voltage (VMIN), have been ...
