HQAlign: Aligning nanopore reads for SV detection using current-level modeling [PDF]
Motivation: Detection of structural variants (SV) from the alignment of sample DNA reads to the reference genome is an important problem in understanding human diseases. Long reads that can span repeat regions, along with an accurate alignment of these long reads play an important role in identifying novel SVs.

Read Operators and their Expressiveness in Process Algebras [PDF]
We study two different ways to enhance PAFAS, a process algebra for modelling asynchronous timed concurrent systems, with non-blocking reading actions. We first add reading in the form of a read-action prefix operator. This operator is very flexible, but its somewhat complex semantics requires two types of transition relations.

Pupil size behavior during on line processing of sentences [PDF]
In the present work we analyzed the pupil size behavior of forty subjects while they read well defined sentences with different contextual predictability (i.e., regular sentences and proverbs). In general, pupil size increased when reading regular sentences, but when readers realized that they were reading proverbs their pupils strongly increase until ...

Connected text reading and differences in text reading fluency in adult readers. [PDF]
The process of connected text reading has received very little attention in contemporary cognitive psychology. This lack of attention is in parts due to a research tradition that emphasizes the role of basic lexical constituents, which can be studied in ...

Integrating large language models and active inference to understand eye movements in reading and dyslexia [PDF]
We present a novel computational model employing hierarchical active inference to simulate reading and eye movements. The model characterizes linguistic processing as inference over a hierarchical generative model, facilitating predictions and inferences at various levels of granularity, from syllables to sentences.

On the Effect of Anticipation on Reading Times [PDF]
Over the past two decades, numerous studies have demonstrated how less predictable (i.e., higher surprisal) words take more time to read. In general, these studies have implicitly assumed the reading process is purely responsive: Readers observe a new word and allocate time to process it as required. We argue that prior results are also compatible with
