Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Real Driving Emissions Regulation: European Methodology to fine tune the EU Real Driving Emissions data evaluation method

open access: yes, 2020
This European Commission – JRC Technical Report presents a detailed analysis of a dataset made up of 11 passenger cars which have been emission tested during on-road trips for a total of 79 tests. The data set was mostly produced at JRC; except for 3 vehicles.

The effect of ambient temperature on cold start urban traffic emissions for a real world SI car [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The influence of ambient temperature on exhaust emissions for an instrumented Euro 1 SI car was determined. A real world test cycle was used, based on an urban drive cycle that was similar to the ECE urban drive cycle.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Instantaneous vehicle fuel consumption estimation using smartphones and Recurrent Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The high level of air pollution in urban areas, caused in no small extent by road transport, requires the implementation of continuous and accurate monitoring techniques if emissions are to be minimized. The primary motivation for this paper is to enable

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Smart Procurement of Naturally Generated Energy (SPONGE) for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Buses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We discuss a recently introduced ECO-driving concept known as SPONGE in the context of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Buses (PHEB)'s.Examples are given to illustrate the benefits of this approach to ECO-driving. Finally, distributed algorithms to realise SPONGE

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of SOX1 Antibody‐Associated Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes: A Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background SOX1 antibody‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) exhibit significant population‐specific clinical heterogeneity. While Western cohorts predominantly manifest Lambert‐Eaton myasthenic syndrome (65%–80%), comprehensive clinical characterization and treatment response data in Asian populations remain critically ...

Long-term U.S transportation electricity use considering the effect of autonomous-vehicles: Estimates & policy observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we model three layers of transportation disruption – first electrification, then autonomy, and finally sharing and pooling – in order to project transportation electricity demand and greenhouse gas emissions in the United States to 2050 ...
