Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Realizability algebras II : new models of ZF + DC [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2012
Using the proof-program (Curry-Howard) correspondence, we give a new method to obtain models of ZF and relative consistency results in set theory. We show the relative consistency of ZF + DC + there exists a sequence of subsets of R the cardinals of ...

The “Multirealization” of Multiple Realizability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Multiple Realizability (MR) must still be regarded as one of the principal arguments against type reductionist accounts of higher-order properties and their special laws.

Physics‐Informed Neural Network‐Enabled Forward Prediction and Inverse Design of Ring Origami

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a KRT‐PINN framework that integrates Kirchhoff rod theory with physics‐informed neural networks for the forward prediction and inverse design of ring origami consisting of closed‐loop rods. The framework predicts stable states of segmented rings with prescribed natural‐curvature profiles and determines the natural‐curvature profiles ...

Physics‐Aware Machine‐Learning‐Driven Inverse Design of Broadband Ultra‐Open Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A physics‐aware machine‐learning framework enables inverse design of ultra‐open acoustic silencers by decoupling spectral and radial design spaces. The approach rapidly identifies broadband, compact, and highly ventilated architectures, while revealing hidden linear design rules that link geometry, impedance matching, and acoustic performance.

A Curry-Howard Approach to Church's Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2019
Church's synthesis problem asks whether there exists a finite-state stream transducer satisfying a given input-output specification. For specifications written in Monadic Second-Order Logic (MSO) over infinite words, Church's synthesis can theoretically ...

LLM‐Assisted Design of Ultralow‐κ$\kappa$ Chalcogenides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An AI assisted, physics guided workflow accelerates the discovery of ultralow thermal conductivity materials by combining Bayesian optimization, evidence conditioned LLM reasoning, and automated physics‐based validation. The framework uncovers dynamically stable Ag based chalcogenides with ultralow thermal conductivity and promising thermoelectric ...

Realization by inspection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1997
We investigate which first-order representations can be obtained from high-order representations of linear systems “by inspection”, that is, just by rearrangement of the data. Under quite weak conditions it is possible to obtain minimal realizations in the so-called pencil form; under stronger conditions one can obtain minimal realizations in standard ...

From Artificial to Embodied and Physical Intelligence in Smart Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Smart manufacturing is reframed through complementary artificial, embodied, and physical intelligence, spanning computational reasoning, perception‐action coupling, and material‐level adaptation. Their integration across design, fabrication, operation, and maintenance reveals how intelligence can be co‐designed across algorithms, embodied agents, and ...
