Realized Semicovariances [PDF]
We propose a new decomposition of the realized covariance matrix into components based on the signs of the underlying high-frequency returns. Under an asymptotic setting in which the sampling interval goes to zero, we derive the asymptotic properties of the resulting realized semicovariance measures. The first-order asymptotic results highlight how the

Advances in Josephson Junction Materials and Processes Toward Practical Quantum Computing
Emerging materials for quantum computing, including crystalline materials, two‐dimensional van der Waals materials, two‐dimensional electron gas systems, ferromagnets, and unconventional (e.g., d‐wave) superconductors, offer opportunities to engineer next‐generation Josephson junctions.

Intelligent Polymer Electrolytes for Next‐Generation Zinc‐Based Energy Storage Devices
Intelligent polymer electrolytes are organized into a three‐level hierarchy that advances zinc‐based energy storage from passive ion conduction toward active, adaptive, and intelligent operation. Molecular regulation of Zn+ coordination, water activity, desolvation, ion flux, and interfaces underpins adaptive self‐healing, anti‐freezing, adhesion, and ...

Care and COVID 19: Lessons for liberals and neoliberals
Abstract Within the liberal political traditions, care is regarded as a private matter, a problem of ethics rather than justice. Social justice is framed as an issue of economics (re/distribution), culture (recognition) and/or politics (representation).

Herbrandized modified realizability [PDF]
Realizability notions in mathematical logic have a long history, which can be traced back to the work of Stephen Kleene in the 1940s, aimed at exploring the foundations of intuitionistic logic.

Controllability, observability, realizability, and stability of dynamic linear systems
We develop a linear systems theory that coincides with the existing theories for continuous and discrete dynamical systems, but that also extends to linear systems defined on nonuniform time scales.

Organic permeable base transistors are shown to benefit from balanced control of the semiconductor layers above and below the permeable base. Simulations and experiments indicate that the top semiconductor layer affects charge injection and lateral transfer length, while the bottom layer modulates the collector‐induced short‐channel effects.

Abstract LP can be seen as a logic of knowledge with justifications. See [S. Artemov, The logic of justification, The Review of Symbolic Logic 1 (4) (2008) 477–513] for a recent comprehensive survey of justification logics generally. Artemov’s Realization Theorem says justifications can be extracted from validities in the more conventional Hintikka-

Tiny magnetic regions separated by domain walls can store data, but controlling them precisely is difficult. We use focused ion beams to create nanoscale “anisotropy wells” that pin these walls from both sides. This bidirectional pinning holds domains stable in either direction, even with no field applied.

Multiple Realizability and Disjunction for the Special Sciences [PDF]
One way to secure the autonomy of special sciences like psychology is to block reductive strategies by assuming that higher-order properties in psychology are multiply realizable.
