The effect of recasting on the oxidation layer of a palladium-silver porcelain alloy
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1988The oxidation zone of a commercial palladium-silver porcelain alloy was compared after repeated casting with and without the addition of new alloy. The intensity of palladium, silver, tin, indium, and O K-alpha near the oxidation zone was analyzed with XMA.

Parametric analysis of recast layer formation in wire-cut EDM of HSLA steel
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2016This paper presents an experimental investigation to determine the main wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) process parameters which contribute to recast layer formation in high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel. Influence of process parameters, namely, pulse-on time, pulse ratio, power (discharge current), pulse (spark gap), and wire speed, has ...

Nanoscale carbide precipitation in the recast layer of a percussion laser-drilled superalloy
Scripta Materialia, 2009The microstructure of the recast layer formed during percussion laser drilling of a powder-metallurgy Ni-based superalloy has been studied using electron microscopy in conjunction with focused ion beam serial section tomography. It is shown that the dendritic microsegregation of Ti in the supersaturated gamma recast grains reported previously is ...

The objective of the following study was to test proton exchange membrane fuel cell catalysts. A mixture of supported catalyst and recast ionomer (Nafion®) was deposited on a rotating disc electrode (RDE). The resulting thin active layer was immersed in a dilute sulphuric acid solution. The RDE technique allows correction of mass transfer limitation in

The experimental study on recast layer removal of metallic material by femtosecond laser
PICALO 2010: 4th Pacific International Conference on Laser Materials Processing, Micro, Nano and Ultrafast Fabrication, 2010The microcracks and impurities in the recast layer have undesirable effects on the fatigue resistance and service life of metallic parts. In order to overcome the drawbacks, a new method of recast layer removal based on the advanced femtosecond laser process technology is proposed in this paper.

Metal micro-hole formation without recast layer by laser machining and electrochemical machining
Optik, 2018Abstract Laser machining and electrochemical machining (LM-ECM) of metal micro-hole is presented in this study. Millisecond pulsed laser etches metallic materials by thermal effect, and electrochemical machining removes recast layer. No recast layer is produced on the wall of metal micro-holes.

Recast layer removal after electrical discharge machining via Taguchi analysis: A feasibility study
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2009This study explores the feasibility of removing the recast layer (RCL) using etching and mechanical grinding for Ni-based superalloy materials by means of electrical discharge machining (EDM). The EDM process is widely used for machining hard metals and performing specific tasks that cannot be achieved using conventional techniques. The sparks produced

Recast layer and micro-cracks in electrical discharge machining of ultra-fine-grained aluminum
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2016Aluminum alloys, due to lightweight, are widely used in aerospace and automotive industries. However, the low strength of aluminum has hindered its application. The strength of aluminum can be improved in many ways. One of them is decreasing the average grain size of metal by applying sever plastic deformation methods.

Study of the Recast Layer of Particulate Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites machined by EDM
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017Abstract This study explores the relationship between the recast layer zone and the electrical discharge machining (EDM) process parameters behaviors on metal matrix composites (MMCs). The characteristics of recast layer are investigated by using a L27 Taguchi’s design of experiments.
