Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Robust Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI)-Based Multitarget Localization via Gaussian Process Regression

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Indoor and Seamless Positioning and Navigation, 2023
We consider the robust localization, via Gaussian process regression (GPR), of multiple transmitters/targets based on received signal strength indicator (RSSI) data collected by fixed sensors distributed in the environment.

Beamforming approach for localization in WSN based received signal strength [PDF]

open access: yes2011 34th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2011
This paper is concerned with localization in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We propose a novel localization algorithm based beamforming. The performed localization algorithm is adopted for a typical communication model in WSNs involving two clusters of sensors at both transmitter and receiver sides of the communication link.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Weather-Based Nonlinear Regressions for Digital TV Received Signal Strength Prediction

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika
In this research, the impact of various weather conditions on digital television signals is investigated. Machine learning and nonlinear regression models were used to estimate the strength of the received signal.

Mobile Localization Based on Received Signal Strength and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2015
Being applicable for almost every scenario, mobile localization based on cellular network has gained increasing interest in recent years. Since received signal strength indication (RSSI) information is available in all mobile phones, RSSI-based ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
