Endothelin signalling mediates experience-dependent myelination in the CNS

open access: yeseLife, 2019
Experience and changes in neuronal activity can alter CNS myelination, but the signalling pathways responsible remain poorly understood. Here we define a pathway in which endothelin, signalling through the G protein-coupled receptor endothelin receptor B

Blockade of endothelin-1 receptor B regulates molecules of the major histocompatibility complex in sickle cell disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) molecules have been proposed to play a role in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) pathophysiology. Endothelial cells express MHC molecules following exposure to cytokines.

Mechanosensitive Transcription Factors Involved in Endothelin B Receptor Expression [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2001
Growing evidence suggests an involvement of the endothelin B receptor (ET(B)-R) in blood pressure-dependent arterial remodeling. To study the molecular mechanisms leading to deformation-induced ET(B)-R expression, we have cultured rat aortic smooth muscle cells on flexible elastomers and, when grown to 70% confluence, periodically stretched them for 6 ...

Endothelin-1 is associated with fibrosis in proliferative diabetic retinopathy membranes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
To characterize the relationship between endothelin-1 and fibrosis in epiretinal membranes in proliferative diabetic retinopathy and explore the role of endothelial-mesenchymal transition in these membranes.Membranes were obtained from eyes undergoing ...

Chronic Activation of Endothelin B Receptors [PDF]

open access: yesHypertension, 2007
Endothelin (ET) exerts powerful pressor actions primarily through activation of the ET A receptor subtype. The ET B receptor (ET B R) subtype, on the other hand, is generally thought to initiate physiological actions that decrease arterial pressure.

Endothelin receptor B antagonists decrease glioma cell viability independently of their cognate receptor

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2008
Background Endothelin receptor antagonists inhibit the progression of many cancers, but research into their influence on glioma has been limited. Methods We treated glioma cell lines, LN-229 and SW1088, and melanoma cell lines, A375 and WM35, with two ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL TREATMENT REDUCES THE RISK OF TREATMENT ESCALATION DUE TO VASCULAR COMPLICATIONS IN LIMITED CUTANEOUS SYSTEMIC SCLEROSIS: EMULATION OF A TARGET TRIAL FROM ITALIAN RHEUMATOLOGY SOCIETY SPRING REGISTRY

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon due to the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of the vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Increased expression of vascular endothelin type B and angiotensin type 1 receptors in patients with ischemic heart disease

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2009
Background Endothelin-1 and angiotensin II are strong vasoconstrictors. Patients with ischemic heart disease have elevated plasma levels of endothelin-1 and angiotensin II and show increased vascular tone.
