Salt-sensitive hypertension in endothelin-B receptor–deficient rats [PDF]
The role of the endothelin-B receptor (ET(B)) in vascular homeostasis is controversial because the receptor has both pressor and depressor effects in vivo. Spotting lethal (sl) rats carry a naturally occurring deletion in the ET(B) gene that completely abrogates functional receptor expression.

Objectives The aim of this study is to generate hypotheses about unknown drugs associated with the onset or worsening of Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and to explore their potential pathophysiologic mechanisms through a mixed disproportionality/clustering analysis from the World Health Organization (WHO) pharmacovigilance database.

Ovarian hormones modulate endothelin A and B receptor expression [PDF]
The study aims to determine the modulatory roles of ovarian hormones, estrogen (E2) and progesterone (P), on the expression of endothelin A (ETA) and B (ETB) receptors in lung, liver and kidney tissues.Female Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to bilateral ovariectomy and divided into four groups ovariectomized (OVX), OVX+E2, OVX+P, and OVX+E2+P.

ABSTRACT Coronary slow flow (SF) and no‐reflow (NR) are clinically significant complications of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), particularly in ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and saphenous vein graft (SVG) interventions. Angiographically defined as impaired myocardial perfusion despite restored epicardial patency, SF/NR ...

A feed-forward regulation of endothelin receptors by c-Jun in human non-pigmented ciliary epithelial cells and retinal ganglion cells. [PDF]
c-Jun, c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) and endothelin B (ETB) receptor have been shown to contribute to the pathogenesis of glaucoma. Previously, we reported that an increase of c-Jun and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein β (C/EBPβ) immunohistostaining is ...

Abstract Neural crest cells are a transient cell population that emerges from the dorsal neural tube during neurulation and migrates extensively throughout the embryo. Among their diverse derivatives, glial cells (such as Schwann and satellite ganglionic cells) and melanocytes represent two major lineages. In vitro studies suggested they share a common

Endothelin B receptors exert antipruritic effects via peripheral κ-opioid receptors
Endothelin B receptor agonists exert antipruritic effects on itching induced via endothelin-1 (ET-1) and compound 48/80. Peripheral µ- and κ-opioid receptors (MORs and KORs, respectively) are reported to be involved in the anti-nociceptive properties triggered by ET(B) agonists.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
