Effects of adipokine administration to the hypothalamic preoptic area on body temperature in rats

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2020
The effects of adipokine administration to the hypothalamic preoptic area (POA), which is one of the body temperature (BT) regulation centers in the central nervous system, on BT were investigated in male Wistar rats.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

The Role of PDGFR-β Activation in Acquired Resistance to IGF-1R Blockade in Preclinical Models of Rhabdomyosarcoma

open access: yesTranslational Oncology, 2016
To determine what alternative pathways may act as mechanisms of bypass resistance to type 1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) blockade in rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), we compared expression of receptor tyrosine kinase activity in a number of IGF-1R

Doxorubicin impairs the insulin-like growth factor-1 system and causes insulin-like growth factor-1 resistance in cardiomyocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) promotes the survival of cardiomyocytes by activating type 1 IGF receptor (IGF-1R). Within the myocardium, IGF-1 action is modulated by IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3), which sequesters IGF-1 away from IGF-1R.

IGF-I and insulin activate mitogen-activated protein kinase via the type 1 IGF receptor in mouse embryonic stem cells [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 2007
Abstract Although IGF-I and insulin are important modulators of preimplantation embryonic physiology, the signalling pathways activated during development remain to be elucidated. As a model of preimplantation embryos, pluripotent mouse embryonic stem cells were used to investigate which receptor mediated actions of physiological ...

Receptor for activated C kinase 1 protein binds to and activates the human estrogen receptor α

open access: yesJournal of Medical Sciences, 2014
The classical concept of estrogen receptor (ER) activation is that steroid passes the cell membrane, binds to its specific protein receptor in the cell′s cytoplasm and the steroid-receptor complex travels to the nucleus where it activates responsive ...

Chromosomal Instability Drives Glioblastoma Heterogeneity and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and lethal form of brain cancer, is defined by profound genomic instability, with Chromosomal Instability (CIN) playing a central role in driving tumor progression, therapy resistance, and poor prognosis. CIN is characterized by numerical and structural alterations, is driven by mechanisms such as mitotic ...
