The cholesterol‐HDL‐glucose (CHG) index and traditional adiposity markers in predicting diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This study explores the association of visceral adiposity index (VAI) and lipid accumulation product (LAP), markers of visceral adiposity, with diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. The findings revealed that VAI and LAP values were significantly elevated in diabetic nephropathy but showed no significant association with diabetic retinopathy.

Impact of insulin resistance on post‐stroke depression and outcomes in diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Patients with insulin resistance had a higher risk of developing post‐stroke depression after an acute cerebral infarction. The Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance is an independent risk factor for the development of PSD. Reducing IR may help reduce the incidence of PSD.

Management of pregnancy with metformin: Case reports for genetic insulin resistance syndrome and a literature review for gestational and type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We here describe perinatal glycemic management with metformin in two women with genetic insulin resistance syndrome caused by variants of the insulin receptor or phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase (PI3K) genes. In addition, we review the literature related to the efficacy and safety of metformin treatment for gestational diabetes mellitus and type 2 ...

The 20 kDa isoform of the human growth hormone variant alters adipose and muscle gene expression differently than human growth hormone

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract The 20 kDa isoform of human growth hormone variant (20K hGH‐V) (derived from the GH2 gene) has previously been shown to promote growth but lacks the diabetogenic and lactogenic activities of human GH (derived from the GH1 gene). That is, 20K hGH‐V‐treated mice have similar body size and composition to hGH‐treated mice, as well as improved ...

Exploring Two Different Feeding Strategies During Dry Period With Regard to Dry Matter Intake, Intermediary Metabolism and Certain Health Aspects of Dairy Cows in Germany

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dry cow feeding plays an essential role in dairy production. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate two different dry cow feeding strategies regarding dry matter intake (DMI), metabolism and health aspects of dairy cows in the first 50 days after calving.
