Implications of receptor-mediated endocytosis and intracellular trafficking dynamics in the development of antibody drug conjugates

open access: yesmAbs, 2013
The use of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) as a therapeutic platform to treat cancer has recently gained substantial momentum. This therapeutic modality has the potential to increase the efficacy and reduce the systemic toxicity associated with current ...

The Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis of Nonspherical Particles [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2008
Enveloped viruses and nanosized biomimetic particles for drug and gene delivery enter target cells mainly through receptor-mediated endocytosis. A few models have been presented to elucidate the mechanics of particle engulfment by the cell membrane, showing how size and surface chemico-physical properties favor or oppose internalization.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

WASH and Tsg101/ALIX-dependent diversion of stress-internalized EGFR from the canonical endocytic pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Stress exposure triggers ligand-independent EGF receptor (EGFR) endocytosis, but its post-endocytic fate and role in regulating signalling are unclear. We show that the p38 MAP kinase-dependent, EGFR tyrosine kinase (TK)-independent EGFR internalization ...

Macropinocytosis enhances foamy macrophage formation and cholesterol crystallization to activate NLRP3 inflammasome after spinal cord injury

open access: yesRedox Biology
After spinal cord injury (SCI), phagocytes endocytose myelin debris to form foam cells, exacerbating the inflammatory response. It has been previously shown that macrophages become foam cells through the phagocytosis of myelin debris via receptor ...

Clathrin- and dynamin-dependent endocytosis limits canonical NF-κB signaling triggered by lymphotoxin β receptor

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2020
Background Lymphotoxin β receptor (LTβR) is a member of tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily which regulates the immune response. At the cellular level, upon ligand binding, the receptor activates the pro-inflammatory NF-κB and AP-1 pathways.

The crossroads of receptor-mediated signaling and endocytosis in plants.

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2018
Plants deploy numerous plasma membrane receptors to sense and rapidly react to environmental changes. Correct localization and adequate protein levels of the cell-surface receptors are critical for signaling activation and modulation of plant development

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Targeting GLP-1 receptor trafficking to improve agonist efficacy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) promotes insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and undergoes agonist-mediated endocytosis. Here, authors study GLP-1R endocytosis caused by different agonists and show that a longer plasma membrane ...

Secreted PCSK9 downregulates low density lipoprotein receptor through receptor-mediated endocytosis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is a protease that regulates low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) protein levels. The mechanisms of this action, however, remain to be defined.
