Expression levels of adiponectin receptors and periodontitis

Journal of Periodontal Research, 2010
We recently showed that adiponectin, an adipocyte-derived cytokine, may function as a negative regulator of the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway and of osteoclast formation in periodontal disease. In this study, we investigated whether the expression levels of adiponectin receptors (AdipoR1 and AdipoR2) are related to the presence of periodontitis ...

Localization of Novel Adiponectin Receptor Constructs

Journal of Receptors and Signal Transduction, 2006
Adiponectin is one of the most abundant fat-derived hormones involved in a multitude of metabolism pathways. The receptors AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 of this metabolically active protein have been identified recently. AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 are most abundantly expressed in the skeletal muscle and in the liver, respectively.

Characterization of swine adiponectin and adiponectin receptor polymorphisms and their association with reproductive traits

Animal Genetics, 2008
SummaryIn this study, polymorphisms in genes encoding porcine adiponectin (ADIPOQ) and its receptors (ADIPOR1 and ADIPOR2) were evaluated for associations with reproductive traits in a Landrace sow population. Sixteen SNPs were identified, and among these, associations were found between reproductive traits and five SNPs.

Circulating adiponectin and adiponectin receptor expression in skeletal muscle: effects of exercise

Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, 2007
AbstractExcess visceral fat can regulate insulin sensitivity and energy metabolism by releasing adipokines into the circulation which then bind with their cognate receptors in various tissues and alter glucose and lipid metabolism. Circulating levels of adiponectin, which promotes glucose uptake into skeletal muscle and increases fat oxidation rates ...

Cloning, expression and chromosome localization of porcine adiponectin and adiponectin receptors genes

Domestic Animal Endocrinology, 2006
Adiponectin is a cytokine secreted specifically by adipocytes that has been proposed to enhance insulin sensitivity and prevent atherosclerosis. Adiponectin receptors (adipoR1 and adipoR2) are recently found in mice which act as receptors for globular and full-length adiponectin to mediate the fatty-acid oxidation and glucose uptake in muscle and liver.

Adiponectin and adiponectin receptors in obesity-linked insulin resistance.

Novartis Foundation symposium, 2008
Adiponectin is an abundantly expressed adipokine in adipose tissue and has direct insulin sensitizing activity. We have proposed the following adiponectin hypothesis. Interactions of genetic factors such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the Adiponectin gene and environmental factors causing obesity result in hypoadiponectinaemia, which ...
