Characterization of alpha 1- and alpha 2-adrenergic receptors.
International review of neurobiology, 1984Within the short period of 5 years, the availability of a variety of specific radioligands has allowed the resolution of alpha 1- and alpha 2-adrenergic receptor populations in many different tissues and enabled researchers to begin investigations of the mechanisms of regulation and coupling of alpha 1 and alpha 2 receptors to their different cellular ...

The impact of alpha-1-adrenergic receptor antagonists on the progression of Parkinson disease
Journal of the American Pharmacists AssociationAlpha-1-adrenergic receptor antagonists (AARAs) are used in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy. Some AARAs, such as terazosin, stimulate glycolysis and increase cellular adenosine triphosphate levels through activation of phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1), which has been suggested to be of therapeutic benefit in patients with Parkinson ...

Alpha 1-adrenergic receptors in liver regeneration.
Digestive diseases and sciences, 1991The alpha 1-adrenergic receptor mediates the effects of catecholamines on DNA synthesis, as observed in rat liver following a 2/3 partial hepatectomy and in serum-free primary cultures of adult rat hepatocytes exposed to epidermal growth factor. In vitro, norepinephrine action at this receptor heterologously down-regulates epidermal growth factor ...

Eksperimentalna meditsina i morfologiia, 1990
Experiments were carried out on male white rats of Wistar strain, placed in metabolic cages in a room with artificial light and dark at 12-hour periods. Furosemide in a dose of 4 mg/kg was used intraperitoneally singly or after pretreatment with methoxamine in a dose of micrograms/kg or prazosin in a dose of 0.2 mg/kg.

[The identification and characteristics of subpopulations of alpha 1-adrenergic receptors].
Nauchnye doklady vysshei shkoly. Biologicheskie nauki, 1990Rat liver and brain alpha 1-adrenergic receptors were purified 500 fold by successive chromatographic steps using heparin- and wheat germ agglutinin-agarose; an affinity matrix constructed by coupling CP85.224 (a derivative of prazosin) to affigel 102.
