Estrogen-Related Receptors in Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2015
Estrogen signaling pathways are implicated in the development of breast cancer and prostate cancer. Various studies have focused on additional signaling pathways, mediated by estrogen-related receptors (ERRs).

Estrogen receptor cytochemistry by fluorescent estrogen. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1980
A recently synthesized fluorescein-labeled estrogen (17FE, 1-(N)-fluoresceinyl-estrone-thiosemicarbazone) interacts with estrogen-target cells like the native hormone and visualizes the uptake, transport, and distribution of estrogen in intact target cells.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Steroid Receptors and Vertebrate Evolution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Considering that life on earth evolved about 3.7 billion years ago, vertebrates are young, appearing in the fossil record during the Cambrian explosion about 542 to 515 million years ago. Results from sequence analyses of genomes from bacteria, yeast, plants, invertebrates and vertebrates indicate that receptors for adrenal steroids (aldosterone ...

Molecular mechanism of estrogen–estrogen receptor signaling [PDF]

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2016
Abstract17β‐Estradiol (E2), as the main circulating estrogen hormone, regulates many tissue and organ functions in physiology. The effects of E2 on cells are mediated by the transcription factors and estrogen receptor (ER)α and ERβ that are encoded by distinct genes.

Comparative single‐cell transcriptomic profiling of patient‐derived renal carcinoma cells in cellular and animal models of kidney cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We generated and characterized clear cell renal cell carcinoma models using the patient‐derived RCC243 cell line—including cell culture, orthotopic, and metastatic tumors—via single‐cell RNA‐sequencing for comparisons between models and patient tumor datasets.

Double robust estimation of partially adaptive treatment strategies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Precision medicine aims to tailor treatment decisions according to patients' characteristics. G-estimation and dynamic weighted ordinary least squares (dWOLS) are double robust statistical methods that can be used to identify optimal adaptive treatment strategies.

Estrogen-dependent regulation of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) and P2X purinoceptor 3 (P2X3): Implication in burning mouth syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2022
Sex differences in the nervous system have gained recent academic interest. While the prominent differences are observed in mood and anxiety disorders, growing number of evidences also suggest sex difference in pain perception.

Approximate calculation of the binding energy between 17$β$-estradiol and human estrogen receptor alpha [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Estrogen receptors (ERs) are a group of proteins activated by 17$\beta$-estradiol. The endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) mimic estrogen action by bind directly to the ligand binding domain of ER. From this perspective, ER represent a good model for identifying and assessing the health risk of potential EDCs.
