Structural Basis of IL-1 Family Cytokine Signaling
Interleukin-1 (IL-1) family cytokines are key signaling molecules in both the innate and adaptive immune systems, mediating inflammation in response to a wide range of stimuli.

Colchicine therapy in acute coronary syndrome patients acts on caspase-1 to suppress NLRP3 inflammasome monocyte activation [PDF]
Inflammasome activation, with subsequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-18, has recently been implicated in atherosclerosis-associated inflammation. This study aims to assess in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients (

Adenosine inhibited interleukin (IL)-18 production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated monocytes. The action of adenosine was antagonized by an adenosine A2A-receptor (A2AR) antagonist and was mimicked by an A2AR agonist, suggesting that the stimulation of A2AR may be involved in the actions of adenosine.

Expression and responsiveness of human interleukin-18 receptor (IL-18R) on hematopoietic cell lines [PDF]
Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a new inflammatory cytokine sharing biological functions with IL-12. The human IL-18 receptor (IL-18R) was recently identified and was found to be expressed on normal peripheral blood lymphocytes. To further characterize IL-18R, we analyzed IL-18R expression using a series of human hematopoietic cell lines selected from ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Divergent Annexin A1 expression in periphery and gut is associated with systemic immune activation and impaired gut immune response during SIV infection. [PDF]
HIV-1 disease progression is paradoxically characterized by systemic chronic immune activation and gut mucosal immune dysfunction, which is not fully defined.

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.
