Regulation of interleukin-2 receptor expression and receptor release

Molecular Immunology, 1986
The generation and cell surface expression of IL-2 receptors was monitored by: (i) an ELISA that permits quantitative determination of detergent-solubilized or soluble IL-2 receptors; and (ii) detection of the binding of 125I-labelled recombinant IL-2 and of anti-IL-2 receptor antibodies to receptor bearing cells.

SIGNALING DOMAINS OF THE INTERLEUKIN 2 RECEPTOR

Cytokine, 2001
Interleukin (IL-)2 and its receptor (IL-2R) constitute one of the most extensively studied cytokine receptor systems. IL-2 is produced primarily by activated T cells and is involved in early T cell activation as well as in maintaining homeostatic immune responses that prevent autoimmunity.

The bimolecular structure of the interleukin 2 receptor

Immunology Today, 1988
Abstract The structure of the receptors for interleukin 2 has recently been largely resolved, being composed of noncovalently linked 55 kDa and 75 kDa polypeptides. Here, Kendall Smith discusses how the low affinity binding sites present on these molecules combine to give rise to the single high affinity site found on normal T cells.

The Chimeric Receptor between Interleukin-2 Receptor β Chain and Interleukin-4 Receptor Transduces Interleukin-2 Signal

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993
Transfectants expressing the chimeric receptor which has human interleukin-4 receptor (hIL-4R) in the extracellular domain and human interleukin-2 receptor beta chain (hIL-2R beta) in the cytoplasmic domain showed continuous growth in response to human interleukin-4 (hIL-4), whereas transfectants expressing hIL-4R responded only transiently to hIL-4 ...

Soluble interleukin-2 receptor in cancer

Frontiers in Bioscience, 2004
Levels of serum sIL-2R (soluble interleukin-2 receptor) reflect the total amount of activated T lymphocytes in tumor infiltrating lymphocytes of cancer tissues and metastatic organs, because a part of alpha-chain of IL-2R is released into the bloodstream on the attachment of IL-2 (interleukin-2) to its specific IL-2R membrane.

Biosensor analysis of the interleukin-2 receptor complex

Journal of Molecular Recognition, 1999
Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor technology has been a significant addition to the evolution and refinement of methods to study macromolecular interactions. Prior to the advent of SPR, we employed a variety of biochemical and biological techniques to study the interleukin-2/interleukin-2 receptor system (IL-2/IL-2R). By combining site-directed

Concomitant Modulation of Serum-soluble Interleukin-2 Receptor and Alveolar Macrophage Interleukin-2 Receptor in Sarcoidosis

American Review of Respiratory Disease, 1993
Interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) expression on bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cells was studied in patients with sarcoidosis using immune cytochemistry and cytometric analysis. A low percentage of alveolar lymphocytes (AL) was found positive for IL-2R, with 7% in patients with impaired lung function and 6% in patients with normal lung function (0.4% in ...

T lymphocyte activation in euthyroid Graves' ophthalmopathy: soluble interleukin 2 receptor release, cellular interleukin 2 receptor expression and interleukin 2 production

Acta Endocrinologica, 1989
Abstract. The present study was undertaken to examine the cellular control arm of the immune response with regard to T lymphocyte proliferation in euthyroid Graves' ophthalmopathy. Twenty patients with euthyroid Graves' ophthalmopathy (7 on antithyroid drugs and 13 on no treatment) and 18 healthy controls were studied in an infection-free period ...

Effects of surgical trauma on interleukin 2 production and interleukin 2 receptor expression

Journal of Tongji Medical University, 1992
To elucidate the mechanism of immunologic abnormalities induced by surgical trauma, we measured interleukin 2 (IL-2) production and IL-2 receptor expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 16 patients with cholelithiasis. Compared with preoperative levels, IL-2 production and IL-2 receptor expression were significantly reduced on ...
