A scalable reconfiguration mechanism for fast dynamic reconfiguration
2008 International Conference on Field-Programmable Technology, 2008Hardware reconfiguration during run-time provides attractive features like fast adaptivity, high hardware utilisation, and low area consumption due to efficient reuse of hardware components. In this paper, a novel multi-layered reconfiguration mechanism is proposed that allows frequent dynamic reconfiguration at very low latencies.

Mechanism State Matrices for Planar Reconfigurable Mechanisms
Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics, 2011This paper introduces mechanism state matrices as a novel way to represent the topological characteristics of planar reconfigurable mechanisms. As part of this new approach, these matrices will be used as an analysis tool to automatically determine the degrees of freedom (DOFs) of planar mechanisms that only contain one DOF joint. The DOF at each state

Fundamental reconfiguration theory of chain-type modular reconfigurable mechanisms
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2013Abstract This article focuses on the study of geometry constraints, motion sequence, isomorphism and interference issues of the chain-type modular reconfigurable mechanisms. The geometry representation of module is accomplished by employing the Clifford algebra.

A mechanically pattern reconfigurable array
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2019AbstractA design of pattern reconfigurable arrays realized with mechanical mechanism is presented. The radiating element of the array is a printed dipole backed with a metallic box, and it has a broad impedance bandwidth as well as a high front‐to‐back ratio. Four of the elements are connected together by using a mounting fixture with rotatable joints.

Reconfiguration of Spatial Metamorphic Mechanisms
Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics, 2008This paper investigates reconfiguration of metamorphic mechanisms as a typical character of topological change of the mechanisms. Metamorphic mechanisms with reconfigurable topology provide changed topological states and subsequently change the mobility to give various subphase mechanisms.

Mechanical actuation of reconfigurable optical fibres
2014 16th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2014We have recently demonstrated a novel type of microstructured nanomechanical optical fibres with optical properties that can be continuously tuned by mechanical actuation, similar to chip-based MEMS optical couplers. We review different options for actuation, such as gas pressure, temperature, and electrostatic forces, and discuss progress in the ...

Reconfigurable Microkernel-based RTOS: Mechanisms and Methods for Run-Time Reconfiguration
2006 IEEE International Conference on Reconfigurable Computing and FPGA's (ReConFig 2006), 2006The requirements of high computational performance and flexibility of the contemporary embedded systems are continuously increasing. Moreover, a single architecture must be able to support different applications with dynamical requirements (changing environments).

Dynamic Reconfiguration of Parallel Mechanisms
2010Shorter product life cycle as well as higher product complexity and diversity require more flexible manufacturing systems. Dynamic reconfiguration is a time efficient way to adapt system properties to rapidly changing process requirements. The potential to reconfigure parallel mechanisms depends on specific and optimized machine components, which ...
