Design of reconfigurable robot
2018 ELEKTRO, 2018Reconfigurable robot is solution for unknown environment with various obstacles. Also energy consumption is better, when suitable locomotion mode is selected. Proposed service robot is able to locomotes via using of wheels or legs. The design of such structure has several advantage as better ability to cross the various types of terrain.

Reconfiguring Human-Robot Relations
ROMAN 2006 - The 15th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, 2006This paper explores cultural imaginaries in projects dedicated to the design of human-like machines. Working with discussions of mimesis as developed by anthropologists Michael Taussig, M (1993) and Gell, A (1998), the author looks at some exemplary realizations of 'socially intelligent' robots, proposing an approach aimed at demystifying and ...

Self-reconfigurable Robots with ATRON Modules
2005We developed a new robotic systems that can change morphology. The system is made of ATRON modules, which are individually simple, attach through physical connections, and perform 3D motions by collective actions. We produced 100 ATRON modules, and performed both simulation and real world experiments.

In this paper, the authors present hexagonal and parallelepipedic modules used for reconfigurable mobile robots. These modules are equipped with types of wheels like the classic and omnidirectional type. By combining these modules the authors achieve multiple types of constructive solutions of wheeled mobile robots.

At the Dartmouth Robotics Laboratory, we have a vision of the future: a modular robot that can assume a snake shape to traverse a tunnel, reconfigure upon exiting as a six-legged robot to traverse rough terrain, and change shape and gait to climb stairs and enter a building.
