Robot‐Assisted Doppler Optical Coherence Tomography for Intraoperative Evaluation of Microvascular Anastomoses

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a robot‐assisted Doppler optical coherence tomography system for autonomous, wide‐field intraoperative assessment of microvascular anastomoses. Machine‐vision–guided probe positioning and adaptive scan planning enable three‐dimensional structural and hemodynamic imaging over extended vessel segments.

Numerical Studies of Weakly Stochastic Magnetic Reconnection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the effects of turbulence on magnetic reconnection using three-dimensional numerical simulations. This is the first attempt to test a model of fast magnetic reconnection proposed by Lazarian & Vishniac (1999), which assumes the presence of weak,

Magnetic Reynolds number dependence of reconnection rate and flow structure of the self-similar evolution model of fast magnetic reconnection

open access: yes, 2005
This paper investigates Magnetic Reynolds number dependence of the ``self-similar evolution model'' (Nitta et al. 2001) of fast magnetic reconnection.

Near-Earth Magnetotail Reconnection Powers Space Storms

open access: yesNature Physics, 2019
Space storms 1 are the dominant contributor to space weather. During storms, rearrangement of the solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field lines at the dayside enhances global plasma circulation in the magnetosphere 2 , 3 .

A community‐driven approach to address substance use and create a Great Plains American Indian addiction and recovery research agenda

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Substance use, specifically opioid and methamphetamine use, is of increasing concern among American Indian (AI) populations in the Great Plains. This community‐driven participatory study investigated the impacts of substance use and community‐defined needs in treating addiction.

Direct observation of high-speed plasma outflows produced by magnetic reconnection in solar impulsive events

open access: yes, 2018
Spectroscopic observations of a solar limb flare recorded by SUMER on SOHO reveal, for the first time, hot fast magnetic reconnection outflows in the corona.

Border harm and affective injustice: The politics of anger at the Melilla border, Spain

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines protests in a detention center in Melilla, Spain—a site where structural violence intersects with the everyday harms of confinement. Adopting a justice and dignity‐centered perspective, we analyze grassroots forms of resistance emerging at the border. The study focuses on the protests of Tunisian migrants and explores the

The coelurosaur theropods of the Romualdo formation, early Cretaceous (Aptian) of Brazil: Santanaraptor placidus meets Mirischia asymmetrica

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The upper carbonate concretion levels of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian, Brazil) have yielded several theropod dinosaur remains, including spinosaurids and the coelurosaurs Santanaraptor placidus and Mirischia asymmetrica, the phylogenetic affinities of which are controversial.

Dynamics of the Storm Time Magnetopause and Magnetosheath Boundary Layers: An MMS‐THEMIS Conjunction

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
This letter uses simultaneous observations from Magnetosphere Multiscale (MMS) and Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) to address the dynamics of the magnetopause and magnetosheath boundary layers during the main ...

On the role of system size in Hall MHD magnetic reconnection

open access: yes, 2017
We study the effects of the Hall electric field on magnetic island coalescence in the large island limit and find evidence for both a elongated electron current sheet layer with a Sweet-Parker-like reconnection rate and a collapsed, Petschek-like ...
