Recreational angling as a vector of freshwater invasions in Central Italy: perceptions and prevalence of illegal fish restocking

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 2018
Italian freshwater ecosystems were strongly affected by biological invasions during the last few decades. Recreational angling contributed to this, through the widespread use of invasive alien species for fish restocking.

In Vivo 3‐Dimensional Glenohumeral Joint Geometry Based Upon Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography Analysis Shows Deeper, Thicker, and Taller Glenoid Labrum Morphology at 12 O’Clock Position in Healthy Young Adults

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To investigate location‐ and sex‐specific glenoid labrum morphology of healthy young adults in vivo, and the labrum's effects on depth and radius of curvature (ROC) of the glenohumeral joint. Methods Healthy young adults with no history of shoulder surgery, injury, or instability underwent computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging ...

The 50-year history of anglers' record catches of genus Carassius: circumstantial evidence of wiping out the native species by invasive conspecific [PDF]

open access: yesNeoBiota
Successful invasive non-native fish species can cause enormous damage to native biodiversity. In mainland Europe, the introduction of the gibel carp (Carassius gibelio) has led to a decline in populations of the formerly widespread native crucian carp (C.

Stereoretentive Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitution Accesses Atropisomeric 4‐Amino‐N‐Arylquinolinium Salts

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Quinolin‐4‐ones were converted to chloroquinolinium salts, allowing formation of axially chiral aminoquinolinium salts via an enantioretentive SNAr reaction with a variety of amine nucleophiles. The salts have a high rotational barrier, with a racemization half‐life of ∼1000s of years.
