A Systematic Review Over the Incidence of Colorectal Cancer in Iran [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Colorectal Research, 2015
Context Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer worldwide which is less common in the Middle East. It is also the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality and represents a major public health problem in developed countries.

Programmable Pneumatic Actuator System for a Bioinspired Artificial Colon

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A modular soft robotic colon simulator driven by programmable pneumatic actuation is developed to mimic physiological and pathological‐like motility patterns of the large intestine. Finite element–guided design and distributed control enable anatomically realistic deformation for peristalsis, segmentation, and mass movements, supporting capsule ...

Nanotransfersomes-loaded thermosensitive in situ gel as a rectal delivery system of tizanidine HCl: preparation, in vitro and in vivo performance

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2017
The purpose of the current study was to develop tizanidine HCl (TIZ; a myotonolytic agent used for treatment of spasticity) loaded nanotransfersomes intended for rectal administration, aiming to bypass the hepatic first-pass metabolism.

Soft Robotic Excretory Care Simulator for Nursing Education: Functional and Perceptual Biomimetics Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A soft robotic simulator is developed to replicate the digital removal of feces (DRF), a sensitive yet essential nursing procedure. Integrating soft actuators, sensors, and a realistic rectal model, the simulator balances functional fidelity with perceptual realism. Engineering evaluations and nurse feedback confirm its potential to enhance training in

A conservative approach in a child with haematuria after accidental rectal impalement trauma

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Paediatric Surgery, 2015
We present a case of an 11-year-old boy with haematuria after traumatic rectal insertion of a sharp metal stick. It demonstrates that an expectative management with close observation can be considered in patients with rectal impalement trauma presenting ...

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Agnuside Stabilizes the Complex I Assembly Factor NDUFAF6 to Reinforce Mitochondrial Efficiency and Thermogenic Responsiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates

Rectal atresia

open access: yesJornal de Pediatria, 1996
The authors report a case of rectal atresia by diaphragm in a newborn four days old, male, with colon obstruction. Diagnosis was made by clinical characteristics, physical examination and radiographic features. After compensation of hydro-electrolytic disturbances, the patient was submitted to surgical treatment. Discharged one week from operation.

RNA Helicase DDX21 Controls CD4+ T Cell Proliferation and Promotes Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...
