Does surgical intervention contribute to survival for patients with para‐aortic lymph node metastasis from colorectal cancer?
Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.Overall survival of patients who underwent surgical resection was significantly better compared to that of patients who underwent chemotherapy without surgical resection. These results highlight the benefit of surgical intervention to survival for patients with isolated para‐aortic lymph node metastasis or with resectable liver metastasis.Akira Ouchi, Koji Komori, Sono Ito, Yusuke Kinugasa, Soichiro Ishihara, Akio Shiomi, Yukihide Kanemitsu, Takeshi Suto, Hiroki Takahashi, Yoichi Ajioka, on behalf of the study group for PALNM projected by JSCCR, Akinobu Furutani, Akira Hirata, Atsushi Ishibe, Eiji Sunami, Heita Ozawa, Hideki Ueno, Hideyuki Ishida, Hiroyuki Egi, Ichiro Takemasa, Jun Watanabe, Junichiro Hiro, Kay Uehara, Kazushige Kawai, Koya Hida, Manabu Shiozawa, Masaaki Ito, Masakatsu Numata, Masanori Hotchi, Masaya Hiyoshi, Masayuki Ohue, Michio Itabashi, Ryo Inada, Shuntaro Nagai, Takaya Kobatake, Takeshi Kato, Tomohiro Yamaguchi, Yasumasa Takii, Yasumitsu Hirano, Yoshihiro Kakeji +39 morewiley +1 more sourceExpert Consensus Document: An Algorithm for the Care and Treatment of Patients with Constipation Based on Ultrasonographic Findings in the Rectum
DiagnosticsChronic constipation is a common gastrointestinal disorder, and its management is critical. However, it is extremely difficult to assess its subjective symptoms when patients are unable to report them due to cognitive or physical disabilities, especially Takaomi Kessoku, Masaru Matsumoto, Noboru Misawa, Momoko Tsuda, Yuka Miura, Ayaka Uchida, Yuki Toriumi, Tomoyuki Onodera, Hiromi Arima, Atsuo Kawamoto, Junko Sugama, Makoto Matsushima, Mototsugu Kato, Noriaki Manabe, Nao Tamai, Hiromi Sanada, Atsushi Nakajima +16 moredoaj +1 more sourceInternational Comparison of Geriatric‐Associated Variables in Major Gastroenterological Surgery Between National Clinical Database and American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program
Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.Geriatric surgical risk factors and outcomes were compared between the US and Japanese databases. Geriatric‐associated preoperative variables and outcomes similarly increased with age. Mobility and functional domains differed between the two databases. ABSTRACT Backgrounds
Incidence of malignant disease in older patients has been increasing.Yasuhide Kofunato, Xane Peters, Arata Takahashi, Mark E. Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.Lymph node dissection of the main nodes along the feeding artery has a therapeutic value in early‐stage colon cancers. Meanwhile, the significance of #253 dissection for descending colon cancer requires further discussion. ABSTRACT Aims
To determine the optimal extent of lymph node dissection for non‐metastatic colon cancer by tumor location based on ...Akira Ouchi, Kozo Kataoka, Eiji Shinto, Takashi Akiyoshi, Takefumi Yoshida, Yasuyuki Takamizawa, Yukihide Kanemitsu, Hirotoshi Kobayashi, Yoichi Ajioka, on behalf of the Lymph Nodes Committee of JSCCR +9 morewiley +1 more sourceShort‐ and Long‐Term Outcomes of Open, Laparoscopic, and Robot‐Assisted Surgery for Rectal Cancer
Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.Robot‐assisted rectal resection demonstrated superior short and long‐term outcomes compared to laparoscopic and open approaches. ABSTRACT Background
Robot‐assisted surgery has short‐term benefits in rectal cancer surgery; however, its long‐term advantages remain unclear.
