This is the first reported case of rectal vascular ectasia in association with gastric antral vascular ectasia (watermelon stomach). The patient, a 39-year-old woman with systemic sclerosis, reported chronic gastrointestinal blood loss and iron deficiency anemia.

OCCASIONALLY on digital examination of the rectum one finds a submucosal nodule. Jackman and Buie 1 have emphasized the importance of this and recommend biopsy to prove the type of lesion. Recently, we encountered a submucosal tumor of the rectum which proved to be a leiomyosarcoma.
