A Recurrence Concerning Rayleigh Functions
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1971L. Carlitz has suggested the problem of evaluating $a(n,k) = \sum_{r = 1}^{n - 1} {r^k \sigma _2 (\nu )\sigma _{n - r} (\nu )} $, where $\sigma _r (v)$ are the Rayleigh functions. The special cases $k = 1,2,3$ were given by N. Kishore.Both N. Kishore and L. Carlitz gave recurrence relations for $a(n,2k + 1,\nu )$ which involve $a(n,l,\nu )$, $l = 0,1,2,

Recurrence relations for orthogonal rational functions
Numerische Mathematik, 2012The purpose of this paper is to investigate recurrence relations for orthonormal rational functions with a few prescribed real or complex conjugate poles. It is shown that under some restrictions on the ordering of the poles, these functions satisfy short recursion relations, analogous to the three-term recursion relations for orthogonal polynomials ...

Respiratory Function in Recurrent Pulmonary Embolism
Respiration, 2009Pulmonary arterial and right atrial pressure, cardiac output, lung volumes, blood gases, VD/VT ratio and alveoloarterial oxygen tension gradient were measured in 21 subjects with pulmonary hypertension due to recurrent pulmonary emboli. The mean pressure in pulmonary artery ranged from 19.5 to 97.0 mm Hg.

Lymphocyte function in recurrent aphthous ulceration
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 1985Lymphocyte blast transformation responses to mitogens and to streptococcal, adenovirus Type I, and oral mucosal antigens were studied in 32 patients with recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) and matched control subjects. RAU patients showed significantly depressed (p<0.05) responses to mitogens in comparison with matched controls, but there was no ...

Hypergraphic Functions and Bifurcations in Recurrence Relations
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1978In this paper, bifurcations of the recurrence relation $X_{n + 1} = F( {X_n } )$ are studied. For a certain class of functions F, it is proved that when any cycle bifurcates, it produces a nearby one of double the period. The class of functions is defined by a differential inequality which is satisfied by several functions that have been used in models

Psychosocial Functioning in Schoolchildren With Recurrent Headaches
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 1996The psychosocial functioning of 113 schoolchildren (8 to 15 years old) reporting headaches at least once a month was compared to a group of headache‐free control subjects matched for sex and age. Thirteen percent of the headache sufferers had migraine headaches, 28% had episodic tension‐type headaches, 30% had chronic tension‐type headaches, and 29 ...
