Recursive single frequency estimation
2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002A common problem in communications is the estimation of the frequency of a single complex sinusoid in additive noise. Since the wireless environment is often characterized by poor SNR, it is of interest to find methods of frequency estimation that work well in low SNR environments.

Rate of Convergence of Recursive Estimators
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1992Summary: It is proved that the sequence of recursive estimators generated by Ljung's scheme combined with a suitable restarting mechanism converges under certain conditions with rate \(O_ M(n^{-1/2})\), where the rate is measured by the \(L_ q\)-norm of the estimation error for any \(1\leq ...

A Representation Theorem for the Error of Recursive Estimators
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2005The ultimate objective of this paper is to develop new techniques that can be used for the analysis of performance degradation due to statistical uncertainty for a wide class of linear stochastic systems. For this we need new technical tools similar to those used in [L. Gerencser, Statist. Plann. Inference, 41 (1994), pp. 303-325].

Recursive credibility estimation
Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, 1981Abstract The paper treats models in which credibility estimators may be updated recursively as time passes. It is shown that when updating the credibility estimators, we get their estimation errors updated as a by-product. The models treated include cases with an unknown underlying random parameter that develops over time.

A fundamental problem in communication and control is the filtering (estimation) problem which can be stated as follows: Given an observed process $$y(t;\omega )$$ which has the structure: $$y(t;\omega ) = s(t;\omega )\, + \,n(t;\omega )$$ where s(t;ω) is the “signal process” and n(t;ω) the “observation error” or “noise” modelled as a ...
