Repression of recA Induction by RecX Is Independent of the RecA Protein in Deinococcus radiodurans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2010
ABSTRACT Besides inhibiting RecA activity at the protein level, Deinococcus radiodurans RecX can suppress RecA induction at the transcriptional level. The regulation of RecX on recA induction is independent of RecA activity, and its N terminus is involved in this process.

Selective Vapor‐Phase Formic Acid Decomposition Over Carbon‐Supported Rhenium Catalysts with Metallic, Carbide, and Oxide Rhenium Phases

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 12, December 2025.
Carbon‐supported rhenium catalysts with metallic, carbide, and oxide phases were evaluated for vapor‐phase formic acid decomposition. Rhenium carbide exhibited the highest intrinsic activity and superior CO2 selectivity, while graphite provided enhanced dispersion compared to carbon nanotubes, highlighting phase‐dependent performance in hydrogen ...

Unique Na5−xSbSe Phase Enables High‐Rate Performance of Sb2Se3 Anodes in Na‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 31, August 19, 2025.
The (de)sodiation mechanism of Sb2Se3 is revealed through advanced operando techniques and ab initio simulations and underscores the value of complementary methods in exploring battery mechanisms. A new Na5−xSbSe phase is identified as the final sodiation product of Sb2Se3 anodes in Na‐ion batteries (NIBs), which enables the remarkably high‐rate ...

Beyond Core–Shell Micellar Structures: Complex Structures in Simple Surfactants

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2025.
The structure of Triton X‐100 assemblies is examined and compared with that of C12EO10 micelles. Although both have similar molecular weights and identical hydrophilic segments, in these findings, it is revealed that Triton X‐100 cannot be represented by a singular structure.

DinI and RecX modulate RecA–DNA structures in Escherichia coli K‐12 [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, 2006
SummaryRecA plays a central role in recombination, DNA repair and SOS induction through forming a RecA–DNA helical filament. Biochemical observations show that at low ratios to RecA, DinI and RecX stabilize and destabilize RecA–DNA filaments, respectively, and that the C‐terminal 17 residues of RecA are important for RecX function.

Inhibition of RecA-mediated ATP hydrolysis by RecX proteins during DNA strand exchange.

open access: yes, 2016
ATPase reactions were carried out and monitored as described in Materials and Methods, with 5 μM RecA or RecA D112R protein as indicated and RecX protein (from E. coli) or RecXNG, as indicated. Duplex linear M13mp18 DNA was added at the time indicated by

Varying the Core Topology in All‐Glycidol Hyperbranched Polyglycerols: Synthesis and Physical Characterization

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 4, February 2025.
Cyclic polyglycidol‐graft‐hyperbranched polyglycerols using a hyper grafting strategy from a low molecular weight cyclic polyglycidol are presented along with their analogous structures containing linear and three‐armed star cores. The study of this family of hyperbranched polyglycerols in solution and bulk revealed the critical influence of core ...

Dehydration of Fructose to 5‐HMF Catalyzed by Commercial Faujasite Zeolites: Kinetic Study and Influence of the Properties of the Catalyst

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 16, Issue 19, October 7, 2024.
The dehydration of fructose into 5‐HMF in DiMethylSulfOxide (DMSO) catalyzed by large‐pore faujasite zeolites as prototypical heterogeneous Brønsted acid catalysts is investigated. A mechanistic study is carried out using a variety of analytical techniques which allows to provide unprecedented detail on the relations between different categories of ...
