Pink Staining of Pernicious Anemia Megaloblasts by Alizarin Red S
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1974The anthraquinone dye alizarin red S produced pink staining of the cytoplasm of proerythroblasts and megaloblasts in 8 patients with untreated pernicious anemia. This pink staining was not observed in erthyroid precursors from severely folatedeficient individuals, or from a variety of other types of anemic or normal controls.

Composition and Stability of Lead‐Alizarin Red S Chelate
Journal für Praktische Chemie, 1965AbstractThe composition and stability of the red coloured complex of lead‐Alizarin Red S chelate (λmax490mμ) have been determined using the mole ratio method and the slope ratio method. The ratio of lead to Alizarin Red S has been determined to be 1:1. The chelate is stable between pH 5.4 and 8.2. The value of formation constant is 6.0.

Orientation of adsorbed alizarin red S on hydroxyapatite.
Calcified tissue international, 1983Adsorption isotherms of alizarin red S on hydroxyapatite were supplemented with additional data to provide a simple model of adsorption. The model treats the adsorbing surface as a mosaic of unit cell a-c faces which have an area of 65 A2 each. The adsorbate of the model has molecular dimensions consistent with a 1:1 relationship between adsorbate and ...
