Signature Optical Cues: Emerging Technologies for Monitoring Plant Health

open access: yesSensors, 2008
Optical technologies can be developed as practical tools for monitoring plant health by providing unique spectral signatures that can be related to specific plant stresses.

Strong games played on random graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In a strong game played on the edge set of a graph G there are two players, Red and Blue, alternating turns in claiming previously unclaimed edges of G (with Red playing first). The winner is the first one to claim all the edges of some target structure (

Impact of the Redheaded Pine Sawfly (Hymenoptera: Diprionidae) on Young Red Pine Plantations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The ecology of the redheaded pine sawfly was studied relative to its impact on red pine plantations. An ecological model, which formed the basis for socioeconomic analysis, was constructed.

The Vegetation Red Edge Biosignature Through Time on Earth and Exoplanets [PDF]

open access: yesAstrobiology, 2018
The high reflection of land vegetation in the near-infrared, the vegetation red edge (VRE), is often cited as a spectral biosignature for surface vegetation on exoplanets. The VRE is only a few percent change in reflectivity for a disk-integrated observation of present-day Earth. Here we show that the strength of Earth's VRE has increased over the past

Monitoring the Effects of Water Stress in Cotton Using the Green Red Vegetation Index and Red Edge Ratio

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The main objective of this work was to study the feasibility of using the green red vegetation index (GRVI) and the red edge ratio (RE/R) obtained from UAS imagery for monitoring the effects of soil water deficit and for predicting fibre quality in a ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Evaluation of the health status of Araucaria araucana trees using hyperspectral images

open access: yesRevista de Teledetección, 2018
The Araucaria araucana is an endemic species from Chile and Argentina, which has a high biological, scientific and cultural value and since 2016 has shown a severe affection of leaf damage in some individuals, causing in some cases their death.

Extraction of fractional vegetation cover in arid desert area based on Chinese GF-6 satellite

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2021
The red edge band is considered as one of the diagnosable characteristics of green plants, but the large-scale remote sensing retrieval of fractional vegetation coverage (FVC) based on the red edge band is still rare.

Is T Leonis a superoutbursting intermediate polar?

open access: yes, 2004
We present an XMM-Newton analysis of the cataclysmic variable T Leo. The X-ray light curve shows sinusoidal variation on a period P_x equal to 0.89^{+0.14}_{-0.10} times the previously spectroscopically determined orbital period.
