Optical Control of Topological Quantum Transport in Semiconductors

open access: yes, 2007
Intense coherent laser radiation red-detuned from absorption edge can reactively activate sizable Hall type charge and spin transport in n-doped paramagnetic semiconductors as a consequence of k-space Berry curvature transferred from valence band to ...

Observational Proof of the ZZ Ceti Red Edge [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2000
With a time-series CCD photometry survey, we have demonstrated clearly that the observed red edge for the ZZ Ceti stars instability strip at 11,000 K is not an observational selection effect. Previous surveys for variability among hydrogen atmosphere white dwarfs at around 11,000 K have been carried out using high speed photometry which suffers from ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Adaptation Analysis of Measurement Techniques and Inversion Algorithms for Tea Tree LAI

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The leaf area index (LAI) is one of the most important biophysical parameters of vegetation canopy, which is of great significance for estimating the growth and yield of tea trees.

Selection of Hyperspectral Vegetation Indices for Monitoring Yield and Physiological Response in Sweet Maize under Different Water and Nitrogen Availability

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
This study used hyperspectral reflectance data to evaluate the crop physiological parameters of sweet maize. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to identify the wavelengths that primarily contributed to each selected PC.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Estimation of Crop Growth Parameters Using UAV-Based Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Data

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Above-ground biomass (AGB) and the leaf area index (LAI) are important indicators for the assessment of crop growth, and are therefore important for agricultural management. Although improvements have been made in the monitoring of crop growth parameters

Analysis of Cadmium Contamination in Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Using Visible-Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In order to rapidly and accurately monitor cadmium contamination in lettuce and understand the growth conditions of lettuce under cadmium pollution, lettuce is used as the test material.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
