Detection of irrigation inhomogeneities in an olive grove using the NDRE vegetation index obtained from UAV images

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2019
We have developed a simple photogrammetric method to identify heterogeneous areas of irrigated olive groves and vineyard crops using a commercial multispectral camera mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Temperature dependence of the band gap shrinkage due to electron-phonon interaction in undoped n-type GaN

open access: yes, 2005
The photoluminescence spectra of band-edge transitions in GaN is studied as a function of temperature. The parameters that describe the temperature dependence red-shift of the band-edge transition energy and the broadening of emission line are evaluated ...

The red‐edge effects: 30 years of exploration

open access: yesLuminescence, 2002
AbstractIn 1970, three laboratories independently made a discovery that, for aromatic fluorophores embedded into different rigid and highly viscous media, the spectroscopic properties do not conform to classical rules. The fluorescence spectra can depend on excitation wavelength, and the excited‐state energy transfer, if present, fails at the ‘red ...

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Enhancement of Cyanobacterial Bloom Monitoring in Lake Taihu Using Dual Red-Edge Bands of GF-6/WFV: Multi-Dimensional Feature Combination and Extraction Accuracy Analysis

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Cyanobacterial blooms pose a serious threat to freshwater ecosystems, necessitating accurate remote sensing monitoring. Although red-edge bands show potential in terrestrial monitoring, their multi-dimensional features (i.e., spectral, textural, and ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The UV-Optical Color Dependence of Galaxy Clustering in the Local Universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We measure the UV-optical color dependence of galaxy clustering in the local universe. Using the clean separation of the red and blue sequences made possible by the NUV - r color-magnitude diagram, we segregate the galaxies into red, blue and ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Remote sensing retrieval of winter wheat leaf area index and canopy chlorophyll density at different growth stages

open access: yesBig Earth Data, 2021
Leaf area index (LAI) and canopy chlorophyll density (CCD) are key indicators of crop growth status. In this study, we compared several vegetation indices and their red-edge modified counterparts to evaluate the optimal red-edge bands and the best ...
