Influence of additional far-red light on the photosynthetic and growth parameters of lettuce plants and the resistance of the photosynthetic apparatus to high irradiance

open access: yesPhotosynthetica
The effects of additional far-red light (FRL) on the photosynthetic and growth parameters of Lactuca sativa plants grown for 30 d and on the photosynthetic activity of the plants under high irradiance [4 h; 1,500 μmol(photon) m-2 s-1] were studied.

Spectrally balanced chromatic landing approach lighting system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Red warning lights delineate the runway approach with additional blue lights juxtaposed with the red lights such that the red lights are chromatically balanced. The red/blue point light sources result in the phenomenon that the red lights appear in front

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Red-light Running Detection [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Universal Computer Science
Red-light Running increases the risk of collisions and traffic accidents. When a car runs a red light, it can cause a collision with other vehicles moving along the main road, causing serious accidents and even leading to casualties.

Observation of a red-blue detuning asymmetry in matter-wave superradiance

open access: yes, 2010
We report the first experimental observations of strong suppression of matter-wave superradiance using blue-detuned pump light and demonstrate a pump-laser detuning asymmetry in the collective atomic recoil motion. In contrast to all previous theoretical

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Coherent States in Null-Plane Q.E.D

open access: yes, 1993
Light front field theories are known to have the usual infra-red divergences of the equal time theories, as wellas new `spurious' infra-red divergences.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

The Dark Side of the Universe: Doppler Shift [PDF]

open access: yes
This activity illustrates the Doppler effect in cosmology by use of rubber bands. Students will learn how light waves emitted from stars are red shifted if the stars are moving away from Earth (light waves are stretched, producing longer wavelengths ...
