Predator–prey interactions can trigger behavioural responses in ungulates, influencing their space‐use and foraging behaviour and, in turn, indirectly affecting browsing pressure. Changes in browsing pressure can affect plant recruitment and species composition, shaping forest regeneration through predator‐mediated trophic cascades.

Variation and Drivers of Water Chemistry in a Low‐Relief Wetlandscape
Dissolved organic carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, P and NH4+ and concentrations were higher in wetland water than nearby surficial groundwater. Our findings also suggest that seasonal variation in biological activity and hydrological dynamics controlled wetland water chemistry, while groundwater chemistry was primarily governed by saturation of solute ...

Physical controls dominate stream metabolism and carbon cycling over nutrients and stoichiometry
Abstract Streams process and transport vast carbon quantities along the aquatic continuum. The balance between processing and downstream export is governed by metabolism, which in turn is regulated by distinct physicochemical controls that vary through space and time.

Probabilistic Wetland Maps for Mapping Soil Carbon Stock Distribution Across the Pacific Northwest
Abstract Inland freshwater wetlands are poorly mapped and represented despite disproportionately storing soil organic carbon (SOC) relative to their surface area. Here, we assess if digital soil mapping models improve by adding a spatially continuous wetland probability, the Wetland Intrinsic Potential (WIP), as a predictor for SOC across both wetlands

Hydrologic History Drives Divergent Soil Organic Matter Trajectories Across Hillslopes
Abstract Water availability governs soil organic matter (SOM) decomposition, yet how fine‐scale hydrologic variability shapes seasonal SOM processing and persistence remains unclear. In seasonally dry forests, rewetting can trigger rapid CO2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ mineralization, but antecedent moisture may leave biogeochemical legacies that modulate this ...
