Discrete Scale Invariance in Scale Free Graphs

open access: yes, 2006
In this work we introduce an energy function in order to study finite scale free graphs generated with different models. The energy distribution has a fractal pattern and presents log periodic oscillations for high energies. This oscillations are related

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Evaluating Interaction Techniques in an Interactive Workspace: Comparing the Effectiveness of a Textual Interface, Virtual Paths Interface, and ARIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
ARIS is an interface that enables users to visually relocate applications and redirect input among myriad devices in an interactive workspace. While we previously claimed that ARIS is more effective than other interfaces for performing these tasks, this ...

Modeling spatial social complex networks for dynamical processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The study of social networks --- where people are located, geographically, and how they might be connected to one another --- is a current hot topic of interest, because of its immediate relevance to important applications, from devising efficient ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Redirection Waveguide having Discrete Translational Symmetry for Photovoltaic Systems with Solar-Cell Units Placed at the Periphery

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
We have investigated a new type of redirection waveguides for concentration solar-cell systems. The solar cell units are to be placed in the peripheral region of the waveguide.

Lidar-based wake tracking for closed-loop wind farm control [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2017
This work presents two advancements towards closed-loop wake redirection of a wind turbine. First, a model-based wake-tracking approach is presented, which uses a nacelle-based lidar system facing downwind to obtain information about the wake.

An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,

Taxes, subsidies and unemployment - a unified optimization approach

open access: yesCroatian Operational Research Review, 2010
Like a linear programming (LP) problem, linear-fractional programming (LFP) problem can be usefully applied in a wide range of real-world applications. In the last few decades a lot of research papers and monographs were published throughout the world ...
