Education and Redistribution [PDF]
Education is a very expensive way of carrying out redistributive policies. This is because those who have been more favoured by nature/luck are also those who benefit most from the investment in education: if educational resources are distributed ...

Picosecond-jet spectroscopy and photochemistry. Energy redistribution and its impact on coherence, isomerization, dissociation and solvation [PDF]
The development of the picosecond-jet technique is presented. The applications of the technique to the studies of coherence (quantum beats), photodissociation, isomerization and partial solvation of molecules in supersonic-jet beams are detailed with ...

Smooth Entropy Bounds on One-Shot Quantum State Redistribution [PDF]
In quantum state redistribution as introduced in [Luo and Devetak (2009)] and [Devetak and Yard (2008)], there are four systems of interest: the $A$ system held by Alice, the $B$ system held by Bob, the $C$ system that is to be transmitted from Alice to ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

This paper reviews five striking facts about inequality across countries. As Kuznets (1955) famously first documented, inequality first rises and then falls with income.

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

REDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT ROMANCE
Various tax scholars advocate for higher taxes on the wealthy to curb their influence on public policy. This “political economic” case for redistribution has recently gained extra traction through the Law and Political Economy (LPE) movement. Although both tax and non-tax scholars defer to the tax system to implement higher taxes on the wealthy and ...

Carbon‐free inert anodes are essential for decarbonizing aluminum electrolysis. This study investigates a recyclate‐based MgO‐316L steel composite anode tested under galvanostatic Hall–Héroult conditions in cryolite at 1000°C. Microstructural analysis reveals selective MgO fluorination, spinel and oxide layer formation, electrolyte infiltration, and ...

The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.
