Designing Metastable P3‐type Layered Negative Electrodes with High Na Vacancy Concentration for High‐Power Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A metastable high‐vacancy concentration layered P3‐type Na0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 negative electrode material has been synthesized from its K analogues P3‐type K0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 using a facile room temperature ion‐exchange method. The P3‐type Na0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 demonstrates a gravimetric capacity of 125 mA h g−1 and high‐rate performance (80% charging in 3 min ...

A New Overpotential — Capacitance Mechanism for H2 Electrode

open access: yesSensors, 2006
The H2 electrode is commonly assumed to be a half-cell, 2 H+ 2e == H2, andexplained by the Nernst equation. We cannot assume that the H+ is easily reduced to H2 inan H2 saturated solution, and H2 becoming oxidized to H+ in a strongly acid solution ...

Cysteine Is the Only Universally Affected and Disfavored Proteomic Amino Acid under Oxidative Conditions in Animals

open access: yesAntioxidants
Oxidative modifications of amino acid side chains in proteins are a hallmark of oxidative stress, and they are usually regarded as structural damage. However, amino acid oxidation may also have a protective effect and may serve regulatory or structural ...

Print‐and‐Plate Architected Electrodes for Electrochemical Transformations Under Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Typical flow cell electrodes are composed of stochastic porous carbon, limiting understanding of electrode structure‐performance relationships. This work describes an approach, termed “print‐and‐plate,” to prepare porous electrodes by direct ink writing followed by conformal metal coating.
