Elucidating Sodium Ion Storage Mechanisms in Hard Carbon Anodes at the Electronic Level

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐resolution, multi‐frequency continuous wave, and pulsed Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy uncover the intricate Na ion storage mechanisms in hard carbon. This study reveals the coexistence of Na ion intercalation and solvent co‐intercalation, alongside a subsequent transition of Na ions from ionic to quasi‐metallic to metallic ...

A role for peroxiredoxins in H2O2- and MEKK-dependent activation of the p38 signaling pathway

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2020
The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway plays an important role in the cellular response to various stresses and its deregulation accompanies pathological conditions such as cancer and chronic inflammation.

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Navigating the Complexities of Multiple Redox State Interactions in Aqueous Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Numerous aqueous systems host elements in multiple redox states, with wide ranging implications such as their influence on the formation/dissolution of minerals, water toxicity, and nutrient cycling. To uncover governing mechanisms and complex chemical interactions in aqueous systems, reactive-transport models have increasingly gained importance ...

Could CuB be the site of redox linkage in cytochrome c oxidase? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
This paper explores the proton pumping function of cytochrome c oxidase [ferrocytochrome-c:oxygen oxidoreductase (EC 1.9.3.1)] based upon redox linkage at the "high-potential" CU(B) center.

Tin‐Based 2D/3D Perovskite Vertical Heterojunction for High‐Performance Synaptic Phototransistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phototransistors based on tin‐based 2D/3D perovskite heterostructures show an ultrahigh responsivity and detectivity at a low gate voltage across a broad wavelength region from ultraviolet to near‐infrared. The devices can replicate neuromorphic learning and remembering behaviors to light stimuli, in addition to electric depression and memory erasure ...

Tetrahydrobiopterin as a rheostat of cell resistance to oxidant injury

open access: yesRedox Biology
Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) deficiency is caused by genetic abnormalities that impair its biosynthesis and recycling, which trigger neurochemical, metabolic, and redox imbalances.
