Thermo-Kinetic Investigation of Comparative Ligand Effect on Cysteine Iron Redox Reaction

open access: yesCroatica Chemica Acta, 2015
Transition metal ions in their free state bring unwanted biological oxidations generating oxidative stress. The ligand modulated redox potential can be indispensable in prevention of such oxidative stress by blocking the redundant bio-redox reactions ...

The Redox-Mannich Reaction

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2014
A complement to the classic three-component Mannich reaction, the redox-Mannich reaction, utilizes the same starting materials but incorporates an isomerization step that enables the facile preparation of ring-substituted β-amino ketones. Reactions occur under relatively mild conditions and are facilitated by benzoic acid.

Redox Reactions of Myoglobin [PDF]

open access: yesAntioxidants & Redox Signaling, 2013
Failure to maintain myoglobin (Mb) in the reduced state causes the formation of metMb, ferryl Mb species, and cross-linked Mb. Dissociation of ferriprotoporphyrin IX from the globin and release of iron atoms can also occur as oxidized Mb accumulates.
