Propagation law of hydraulic-induced fractures in directional hydraulic fracturing with prefabricated cracks based on phase-field method

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
To investigate the propagation and evolution laws of induced cracks in rocks under directional hydraulic fracturing, a phase-field model is developed.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Volume changes of gypsum-based lightweight mortar during the heating process

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
Gypsum-based lightweight mortar undergoes dehydration of gypsum when subjected to changes in external temperature, which macroscopically manifests as a change in volume. Based on the dehydration kinetics of gypsum, the phase transition during dehydration

The effect of topically applied tissue expanders on radial forearm skin pliability: A prospective self-controlled study

open access: yesJournal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 2014
Background The use of pre-operatively applied topical tissue expansion tapes have previously demonstrated increased rates of primary closure of radial forearm free flap donor sites.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Nonsymmetric Difference Whittaker Functions and Double Affine Hecke Algebras

open access: yes, 2013
This dissertation is devoted to a new theory of nonsymmetric difference Whittaker functions and the corresponding Toda-Dunkl operators for arbitrary reduced irreducible root systems. The nonsymmetric Whittaker functions are obtained as limits of (global)

Prevention of contrast-induced acute kidney injury: is simple oral hydration similar to intravenous? A systematic review of the evidence.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BackgroundPre-procedural intravenous fluid administration is an effective prophylaxis measure for contrast-induced acute kidney injury. For logistical ease, the oral route is an alternative to the intravenous.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

MODEL REDUCTION METHODS IN OPTION PRICING [PDF]

open access: yes
In this work we introduce the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD)approach to the valuation of contingent claims for one–dimensional price models.First, we present the POD in the context of an abstract Hilbert space and we givean application for the ...
