A Unified Software Framework for Empirical Gramians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A common approach in model reduction is balanced truncation, which is based on Gramian matrices classifying certain attributes of states or parameters of a given dynamic system.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

On Mathematical and Logical Realism and Contingency

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
This study presents the claim that mathematics and logic are merely highly formalized reflections, grounded in the physical laws of conservation. The claim generally correlates with John Stuart Mill’s known stance, but unlike his general view, it ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Peningkatan Pemahaman Konsep Akar dan Perpangkatan dengan Model Pembelajaran Take and Give di Kelas V SDN Bendogerit 2 Kota Blitar

open access: yesEdukasia, 2021
Mathematics learning basically has abstract characteristics, as well as tiered concepts and principles. This causes many students to find it difficult to learn mathematics. The success of learning mathematics in elementary schools is shown by the mastery

De l’événement au problème. Archéologie d’un paradigme mathématique [PDF]

open access: yesLa Deleuziana, 2020
The article deals with the presence in Deleuze of an image of mathematical thought centered on the idea of problem. This vision of mathematics, which Emile Bréhier’s studies trace back to the Stoic and Neoplatonic philosophies, feeds romantic thought as ...

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Reduction of Off‐Flavor Generation in Soybean Homogenates: A Mathematical Model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, 2010
Abstract:  The generation of off‐flavors in soybean homogenates such as n‐hexanal via the lipoxygenase (LOX) pathway can be a problem in the processed food industry. Previous studies have examined the effect of using soybean varieties missing one or more of the 3 LOX isozymes on n‐hexanal generation.
