Numerical analysis of the impact of non-contact fins on the natural convection during melting process

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Adding fins is an effective method to accelerate melting proccess. However, fins may not necessarily reduce the melting time due to the negative effects for natural convection.

Kinetics of the Synthesis of Aluminum Boride by the Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis Method

open access: yesCeramics, 2022
The influence of certain factors on the kinetics of the process of obtaining aluminum borides (burning rate, ingot formation, and phase separation) was investigated. In this study, we report the registration of diboride using the SHS protocol.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Super Absorbent Polymers (SAPs) as concentration preservers in brine deicers for enhanced ice melting capacity

open access: yesJournal of Infrastructure Preservation and Resilience
Rock salt brine deicers are among the most prevalent solutions for ensuring safe vehicle operation in snow-prone regions. The efficiency of this solution, however, decreases at extremely low temperatures as it is diluted by melted ice.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Determination of deuterium concentration in melted ice samples by the chromium reduction method

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 2003
We measured the isotope ratio of hydrogen (δD) in melted ice samples by reduction of the water sample with chromium powder. The reproducibility of the δD measurement is within 1.0‰. The δD of surface snow from coast to inland on the Antarctica ice sheet was measured. The measurement range was from -200‰ to -400‰.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
