The anterior point of reference

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1979
Three points in space determine the position of the maxillary cast in an articulator. The dentist is most frequently concerned with selecting the posterior two of the three reference points. In addition, the dentist will, either consciously or unknowingly, select the anterior of these points of reference.

A point of reference

Synthese, 1974
83. It should now be apparent that the familiar problems of reference and modality can be satisfactorily resolved without either abandoning substitutivity of identity in modal contexts or invoking an intensional ontology. It might be argued, however, that the suggested resolution avoids invoking an intensional ontology only because the modal predicates,

Contracts as reference points: A replication

International Review of Law and Economics, 2020
Abstract We replicate two treatments of an experimental theory test ( Fehr et al., 2011 ) studying Hart and Moore (2008) ’s idea that contracts serve as reference points in trading relationships. In contrast to rigid contracts, flexible contract terms may be perceived in a self-serving manner and, therefore, the contract parties might form ...

Declassification with Explicit Reference Points

2009
Noninterference requires that public outputs of a program must be completely independent from secrets. While this ensures that secrets cannot be leaked, it is too restrictive for many applications. For instance, the output of a knowledge-based authentication mechanism needs to reveal whether an input matches the secret password. The research problem is

My reference point, not yours

Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, 2019
Reference points formed by initial endowments influence individual decisions. This experiment tests whether an individual can predict the behavior of other people who have different reference points. Despite financial incentives for being correct, players fail to imagine themselves in another person's shoes.

Anatomical Reference Points – Indispensable Aids

1. The basis of a precise and uncomplicated osteotomy in the maxilla and midface region is a controlled and systematic approach. Cornerstones of the orientation are topographical-anatomical points/landmarks, which should be surgically identified in every case and at all times in order to be able to constantly have orientation for the surgical process 2.

SAT Solving with Reference Points

2010
Many state-of-the-art SAT solvers use the VSIDS heuristic to make branching decisions based on the activity of variables or literals. In combination with rapid restarts and phase saving this yields a powerful decision heuristic in practice. However, there are approaches that motivate more in-depth reasoning to guide the search of the SAT solver.
