Refined Theory for Bending and Torsion of Perforated Plates

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 1986
Abstract An asymptotic solution is given for the effective elastic constants and the stresses in a perforated plate which is loaded in bending and torsion. In this solution terms 0(h/R)2 are neglected with respect to unity; h being the plate thickness and R the hole radius.

Refined Wave Theories of Plates and Shells

2004
The paper is devoted to construction of refined hyperbolic models of plates and shells predicting the wave propagation with the finite velocities unlike the classical Kirchhoff plate theory and Kirchhoff-Love shell theory and other known modifications of parabolic type.

A refined bound on the error of Reissner's plate theory

Ingenieur-Archiv, 1987
The accuracy of two versions of Reissner's plate theory as compared with three-dimensional elasticity is evaluated. The relative mean square error is shown to consist of two parts: one related to transverse normal rigidity and proportional to the plate thickness squared and the other related to transverse shear rigidity and proportional to the ...

A refined two-dimensional theory of anisotropic plates

Mechanics Research Communications, 1993
The theory includes the effects of transverse normal strain and transverse shear deformation. Hamilton's mixed variational principle is used to derive the basis equation of motion of an anisotropic plate subjected to a surface traction field. The in-plane displacements are expanded as linear functions of the thickness coordinate, only the transverse ...

Refined Plate Theory in Bending Problem of Rectangular Normal Plates

2018
This chapter presents recent topics of plate analysis. The explanation is restricted isotropic uniform rectangular elastic plates in order to understand easily the advanced theory. The recent analytical methods are based on rationally considering the transverse shear deformation within the category of two-dimensional approach.

A Three-Dimensional Refined Theory of Elastic Plates

1987
Natural linear approximations are used on the edge only, in order to derive a three-dimensional refined theory of elastic plates available for bending and stretching problems. The present theory is convenient to thin and thick plates and further extensions will lead to study multilayered plates and shells.

On Kinematical Assumptions of Refined Theories of Plates: A Survey

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1990
The paper presents a survey of the kinematical hypotheses and the governing equations of the refined theories of plates. By carrying out a comparative analysis of various, apparently different, kinematical hypotheses proposed by various authors, it is shown that the kinematical hypothesis by Vlasov (1957) is a pattern for all of them.

A refined laminated plate and shell theory with applications

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1991
Abstract The present paper is concerned with the development and certain applications of a refined shear deformable theory suitable for the dynamic analysis of laminated anisotropic plates as well as cylindrical shells of either circular or non-circular configuration.
