Reflectance anisotropy spectroscopy: A probe to explore organic epitaxial growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Reflectance anisotropy spectroscopy (RAS) is demonstrated to be particularly suitable for studying the deposition of organic epitaxial layers in ultrahigh vacuum by organic molecular beam epitaxy, thanks to its high sensitivity and applicability in situ.

Anisotropic NMR as a Crucial Tool for Differentiation of Epimers With High Conformational Flexibility

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Epimer discrimination remains challenging due to subtle NMR differences. Here, we propose a methodology based on 13C‐RCSA and RDC anisotropic parameters, enabling the assignment of two flexible tetraprenyltoluquinol epimers (1a and 1b) with remote stereoclusters.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Machine Learning‐Assisted Design and Performance Prediction of a Compact Dual‐Band Polarization‐Insensitive THz Metamaterial Absorber for Skin‐Cancer‐Related Refractive‐Index Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A compact QASRR‐based THz metamaterial absorber enables polarization‐insensitive dual‐band absorption and skin‐cancer‐related refractive‐index sensing through measurable resonance shifts. Field, surface‐current, and circuit analyses clarify the dual‐resonance mechanism, while StackNet‐assisted prediction accurately estimates the simulated absorption ...
