A reflectarray Using a Dielectric Discretized Concave Mirror Based on Electromagnetic Band Gap [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
This paper presents a reflectarray antenna with an innovative dielectric mirror in the form of a discretized concave reflector. The mirror, manufactured via 3D printing, combines dielectric and air layers, forming an Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) that ...

Design of complementary reflectarray

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2014
A novel solution for the manufacture of a reflectarray antenna is presented. The unit cell simply consists of dielectric foam inserted between two thick metallic plates. The plate illuminated by the feeder is a 0.5 mm‐thick stainless steel sheet into which the C and the reverse C slots are laser cut.

Cloaking and Antennas: From Theoretical Paradigms to Next‐Generation Intelligent Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 33, November 25, 2025.
The inception of electromagnetic cloaking sparked an immediate question: Can antennas be made invisible? Two decades later, this review charts the intertwined progress of major cloaking strategies (from transformation optics to scattering cancellation), metasurface technology, and their application to antennas, revealing how AI‐enabled devices are ...

Tunable Reflectarray Cell for Wide Angle Beam-Steering Radar Applications

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2013
An electronically tunable reflectarray element is proposed in this work to design beam-steering antennas useful for radar applications. A reduced size reflectarray unit cell is properly synthesized in order to extend the antenna beam scanning ...

Broadband, Single‐Layered, and Optically Transparent Reflective Phase‐Shifting‐Surface Array for Beam Manipulation and Enhanced Wireless Communications

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 9, June 2025.
A novel optically transparent reflectarray design approach based on multi‐resonant phase‐shifting elements with minimal fine metal line (FML) structures and low‐loss single‐layer cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) substrate is proposed. The design achieves exceptional antenna performance while ensuring high optical transparency, validated through wireless ...

Broadband Single-layer E-Patch Reflectarray [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
E-shaped patch resonator is proposed for designing a novel broadband linearly polarized reflectarray for the first time. The element is made up of a shorted E-shaped patch with a polystyrene foam placed beneath it, and no dielectric substrate is needed ...

Single‐Layer Reflectarray Providing Broadband Linear‐to‐Circular Polarization Conversion

open access: yesMicrowave and Optical Technology Letters, Volume 67, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a single‐layer reflectarray (RA) design capable of converting incoming linearly polarized waves into outgoing circularly polarized ones while focusing the beam. The design employs nonresonant unit cells, extending the classical concept of meander‐line polarizers.

Reflectarray Antennas printed on convex surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2015
The characteristics of Reflectarray Antennas printed on convex curved surfaces are discussed in this paper. In particular, results will be presented on the radiation performances of Reflectarrays designed to fit cylinders with different radii of curvature, and with different types of radiating elements.
