Bandwidth Improvement in Large Reflectarrays by Using True-Time Delay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A significant improvement in the bandwidth of large reflectarrays is demonstrated using elements which allow true-time delay. Two identical, large reflectarrays have been designed using different phase distributions to generate a collimated beam.

1-Bit Wideband Reconfigurable Reflectarray Design in Ku-Band

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, a 1-bit wideband electronically reconfigurable reflectarray (RRA) in Ku-band is proposed. In order to achieve the wideband and reconfigurable characteristics, the stacked microstrip structure and a 1-bit “microstrip line-slot line ...

Bandwidth of reflectarrays

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2003
It is shown that the dominant factor controlling reflectarray bandwidth is the bandwidth of the radiating element, and that the effect of non-constant path delays over the surface of the flat reflector has little significance unless the aperture is electrically very large and the f/D ratio is small. An example of a polarisation-twist reflectarray using

Wideband Single‐Layer Reflectarray Antenna for Millimeter‐Wave 5G Communications

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The rapid evolution of intelligent applications has driven the demand for high‐performance antenna systems. Reflectarrays (RAs), also referred to as planar reflectors, have emerged as a promising solution for modern wireless and satellite communication systems due to their beam‐steering capability and high‐gain characteristics.

Cloaking and Antennas: From Theoretical Paradigms to Next‐Generation Intelligent Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 33, November 25, 2025.
The inception of electromagnetic cloaking sparked an immediate question: Can antennas be made invisible? Two decades later, this review charts the intertwined progress of major cloaking strategies (from transformation optics to scattering cancellation), metasurface technology, and their application to antennas, revealing how AI‐enabled devices are ...

On the Role of Reflectarrays for Interplanetary Links

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
Interplanetary links (IPL) serve as crucial enablers for space exploration, facilitating secure and adaptable space missions. An integrated IPL with inter-satellite communication (IP-ISL) establishes a unified deep space network, expanding coverage and reducing atmospheric losses.

Broadband, Single‐Layered, and Optically Transparent Reflective Phase‐Shifting‐Surface Array for Beam Manipulation and Enhanced Wireless Communications

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 9, June 2025.
A novel optically transparent reflectarray design approach based on multi‐resonant phase‐shifting elements with minimal fine metal line (FML) structures and low‐loss single‐layer cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) substrate is proposed. The design achieves exceptional antenna performance while ensuring high optical transparency, validated through wireless ...

Performance Evaluation of a High-Gain Axisymmetric Minkowski Fractal Reflectarray for Ku-Band Satellite Internet Communication

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In this article, a high-gain axisymmetric Minkowski fractal reflectarray is designed and fabricated for Ku-Band satellite internet communications. High gain is achieved here by carefully optimising the number of unit cells, their shape modifier, focal ...
