Aperiodic conformal reflectarrays

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2011
We introduce a new class of reflectarrays, namely, the aperiodic conformal reflectarrays, aimed at exploiting, as much as possible, the available degrees of freedom of the radiating structure, such as positions, orientations and characteristics of the radiating elements and the shape of the reflecting surface.

Genetic optimization of microstrip reflectarrays

open access: yesIEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (IEEE Cat. No.02CH37313), 2005
Printed reflectarrays try to combine the advantages of both reflectors and printed arrays (see e.g. [l]) and consist in arrays of printed patches, illuminated by a primary feed horn, that re-radiate the illuminating power back into the space. Since the elements have different positions, the field that propagates from the feed to the patches covers ...

Bandwidth Improvement in Large Reflectarrays by Using True-Time Delay [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2008
A significant improvement in the bandwidth of large reflectarrays is demonstrated using elements which allow true-time delay. Two identical, large reflectarrays have been designed using different phase distributions to generate a collimated beam.

Fast phase-only synthesis of conformal reflectarrays

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, 2010
Phase-only synthesis (POS) techniques represent an important tool for reflectarray design. Indeed, although based on approximate scattering models, for planar antennas, they are numerically effective thanks to the use of fast Fourier transform (FFT ...
