Frontiers in Reflectarray Design

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019
The design of wide reflectarray antennas (RA) featuring complex unit cells through a scalable, efficient, and effective approach based on the System-by-Design (SbD) paradigm is investigated in this work. Towards this end, the customization of the SbD loop to the RA synthesis problem is described, and the integration of advanced micro-scale modeling ...

Optimization of a Gangbuster Reflectarray Antenna

2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005
In this paper we discuss the optimization of the design, carried out through a pseudo-random optimization algorithm, of a gangbuster reflectarray antenna. The variation of reflection coefficient phase on the reflectarray surface is achieved by varying the length of the local wires in the gangbuster surface. For the optimization, a genetic algorithm has

The reflectarray antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1963
A class of antennas that utilizes arrays of elementary antennas as reflecting surfaces has been investigated. An antenna of this type is here called a Reflectarray. It has been found that the Reflectarray combines much of the simplicity of the reflector-type antenna with the performance versatility of the array type. The reflecting surfaces employed in

A Reconfigurable Origami Reflectarray

2020 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2020
This paper presents a novel Miura-Ori origami reflectarray unit-cell. This origami inspired unit-cell allows efficient folding\unfolding, high packing efficiency, easy deployment and frequency reconfigurable behavior. The unitcell is composed of 4 parallelogram patches that can achieve 560° phase shift.

Printed millimeter-wave reflectarrays

Patents on Reconfigurable Reflectarray Antennas

Recent Patents on Electrical Engineeringe, 2009
Reflectarray antennas have attracted significant attention due to a number of attractive properties, such as low cost, and conformal deployment capability. In addition, the drive towards flexible radio transceivers, enabling beamforming and multi-beam operation has spurred significant interest towards the design of antenna elements and antenna arrays ...

Switched beam reflectarrays

2005 18th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2005
A study about switched beam reflectarrays has been carried out as a task on the Spanish project ARCO, to know the possibilities of this kind of antenna. The study has demonstrated that is possible to have a control of the radiation pattern by using switches on the reflector surface, and were studied different configurations in order to simplify ...

Reflectarray Antenna at Terahertz Using Graphene

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2013
The use of graphene for fixed-beam reflectarray antennas at Terahertz (THz) is proposed. Graphene's unique electronic band structure leads to a complex surface conductivity at THz frequencies, which allows the propagation of very slow plasmonic modes. This leads to a drastic reduction of the electrical size of the array unit cell and thereby good array

1-bit Reflectarray Element Based on a Single Switch for Reconfigurable Reflectarrays

2019 Antennas Design and Measurement International Conference (ADMInC), 2019
In this paper, we present a new reconfigurable element using p-i-n diode for reconfigurable reflectarray antennas. The element cell is realized using a single substrate, a ground plane and only a single p-i-n diode embedded in the element, hence very low complexity.
