Seismic Reflection Principles—Basics

2016
Seismic reflection events are caused by the impedance contrasts at layer interfaces having a minimum width (Fresnel Zone). Seismic studies to represent reliably the subsurface geology, require quality data, which depend on signal-to-noise ratio and resolution, the latter being the ability to image thin geologic features separately.

Reflection Principles in Fragments of Peano Arithmetic

Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1987
We develop a proof-theoretic study of reflection principles of fragments of Peano arithmetic, comparing them with restricted forms of various principles, such as transfinite inductions, large set principles and well-ordering principles. Let \(I\Sigma _ k\) be the fragment of arithmetic whose induction is restricted to \(\Sigma _ k\)-formulas.
